Hirzenach Synagogue
Hirzenach Synagogue

A synagogue built around 1825 had to be abandoned in favour of railway construction in 1854, but a new synagogue was completed only two years later.

The Jewish residents held their worship services in this building until 1908 when the community grew too small to assemble the required Minyan; at least ten religiously mature men.

The authorities issued permission for the sale of the building in 1929, with the religious community being dissolved in 1935 and the ritual objects being ceded to the neighbouring communities. There were only two Jewish families living in the village at that time.

A private individual purchased the property and built a residential home on the largely demolished foundation walls.
